Movember The End Results
Movember Has Come To The End
At Higos, we’re delighted to announce our Higos branches have raised an impressive £636 for Movember. The funds our teammates have raised will contribute to groundbreaking research, life-saving initiatives, and impactful programs that aim to change lives.
Thank you again to the MO Higos team for your inspiring efforts.
What is Movember?
Movember is so much more than growing moustaches. It exists to help stop men dying too young by tackling some of the most complex health issues facing men today such as mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Many of us will have experienced or experiencing a loved one a dad, grandad, brother or friend who has or is experiencing these health issues.
One of our teammates Nick Bird said ‘I’m raising funds and awareness this Movember for prostate cancer and in particular my Dad who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015 and sadly passed away in September this year.’
In the UK, 3 out of 4 suicides are by men? Movember advocates the importance of checking in with those who may be struggling and promotes the ALEC Model as a guide to start important conversations:
- ASK – Ask them how they are “You haven’t seemed yourself lately – are you feeling OK?”
- LISTEN – Listen and give them your full attention.
- ENCOURAGE ACTION – Encourage them to take action towards feeling better.
- CHECK IN – Check in with them regularly after your chat.
