When Is The Best Time To Buy Travel Insurance?

At Higos, we understand that we all deserve a good break, and whether your clients like to spend their holidays by the pool or skiing down a mountain, they will want to enjoy it stress-free. This is where travel insurance comes in. We know that life can throw anything at us and having peace of mind whilst away from home is vital. What you might not know is that there is an optimum time for taking out travel insurance. It can help to save money if your clients don’t make it to their holiday and it allows them to plan more effectively if they have a long-term condition.

Why should you have travel insurance?

There are plenty of reasons why your clients should have a travel insurance policy. Whether they’re looking for a policy that covers them for multiple trips, or an individual holiday trip, a travel insurance policy can help protect against a financial loss whilst away from the home on holiday. This can include protection against medical emergencies, death, cancellation and curtailment, loss of luggage, travel delays and damage to personal property.

It's especially important to have travel insurance if they have a long-term condition or illness. High risk medical travel insurance often costs a bit more than a standard policy. However, it will give them better protection should something happen whilst abroad. We can also provide specialist travel insurance cover for higher risk activities for extreme sports, such as surfing, skiing, snowboarding and rock climbing which are not usually included in standard travel insurance policies. That’s why at Higos, you always know you’re clients are properly protected and can enjoy their holiday with complete peace of mind.

When should you buy your travel insurance?

The answer to this question is quite simple, as soon as your clients have bought their holiday! The sooner they get travel insurance, the sooner they are protected. If they choose a bespoke policy, they might be able to make a claim if the trip is cancelled or if they become unwell and have to cancel themselves. We also recommend Travel Insurance if they have a pre-existing condition such as cancer or heart disease. This is because a high-risk medical travel insurance policy can be more difficult to get.

Once they’ve got their Travel Insurance, they can sit back and get excited about their holiday! Our big tip is to make sure they have their travel insurance claims telephone number to hand at all times whilst they are away. It’s always good to be prepared!

Our Travel Insurance can include cover for:

  • Cover up to the age of 100
  • Long stay and one-way travel insurance policies
  • Group and personal travel insurance
  • High-risk travel insurance for existing or pre-existing medical conditions, such as cancer, heart or terminal illness.
